FAQ

Questions finance and product ask first.

Grouped by the questions people actually ask, in the order they usually come up.

Getting started

What does "Merchant of Record" actually mean?+

We become the seller on every transaction — the entity on the receipt, responsible for payment processing, fraud liability, and the tax paperwork a cross-border sale creates. You keep your product and your customer relationship. See our full explainer for the details of what moves and what doesn't.

How does the application process work?+

Accounts aren't self-serve — submit a short application (what you sell, your site, expected volume) and our team reviews it by hand. If it's a fit, we'll email you a link to create your account; if not, we'll let you know. This is separate from the business-verification (KYB) review that happens after your account exists.

What happens while my account is under review?+

Once your account is created, you can build your full catalog — products, prices, coupons — right away. Live checkout and payouts unlock once business verification (KYB) approves your account and payment processing is enabled on the platform.

Is payment processing live right now?+

Not yet. The platform — applications, account creation, onboarding, catalog management, dashboard — is live today, but live checkout and payouts are not yet enabled while we finish onboarding a payment provider. You can apply and build your catalog now.

Pricing & payouts

How is this priced?+

A transparent platform fee plus the payment processor's own rate, taken out of each payment before it's credited to your balance — visible on every transaction, never a separate invoice you have to reconcile by hand.

What are "pending" and "reserve" balances?+

Pending is settled money still inside its holding period before it's fully available. Reserve is a portion held specifically against the risk of a future chargeback or refund — not a fee, and it's released back to your available balance after the holding period.

When can I request a payout?+

Once your account is approved and payment processing is enabled, payouts can be requested against your available balance, subject to your account's payout schedule and any minimum threshold.

Checkout & integration

Can I use my own checkout, or does it have to be hosted?+

Both. Use our hosted checkout link as-is, or drive the same checkout session creation from your own backend with a secret API key if you want more control over the surrounding page.

Does card data ever touch my servers?+

No. Checkout is handled entirely on our hosted page, which keeps your own PCI compliance scope minimal — see our note on PCI scope for the details.

Do you support subscriptions?+

Yes — trials, recurring renewals, and dunning are modeled as an explicit state machine, visible in your dashboard.

Tax & compliance

Do you handle sales tax and VAT?+

Yes, as part of being merchant of record — tax is determined based on the buyer's location and collected as part of checkout, then remitted in applicable jurisdictions.

Does this cover all of my company's tax obligations?+

No. Merchant-of-record tax handling covers the transaction taxes tied to a specific sale — it doesn't replace your company's own corporate income tax, payroll tax, or other obligations unrelated to the transaction itself.

Is BNSeven a certified or licensed payment institution?+

We don't make blanket compliance or licensing claims on this page. If a specific certification or license matters for your business, contact us and we'll give you a direct, current answer rather than a marketing claim.
